After being involved with the re-design of the 2012 Vital Health Foods packaging project, Vital decided it was time to re-brand their Vital Kids Range. It was a task that involved first conceptualising and creating the 5 furry animal characters that would become the iconic mascots for each of the products in the range. When creating a character we always request that our clients answer pertinent questions relating to the style, mood, attitude and demographics of the character. We even go as far as asking what clothes (if applicable) the character should be wearing. By doing this we save our clients lots of money by starting the illustration process already having agreed on all the intrinsics of the character upfront. After presenting a series of rough sketches to our Vital and Pmac clients, we quickly arrived at the desired outcome and could then start the rendering process, converting each character into its colour and digital vector format. Using the new packaging concept we then further developed the design to become the Kids Range look with design elements that differentiates it from the rest of the Vital products. To launch the new range it was necessary to design a trade presenter, product brochure and marketing DL flyers to communicate all the information about the Vital Kids Range to the sales team and to the consumers. A beautiful box was also designed to house the products for the big launch reveal. Communication followed through to developing competitions for kids advertised in magazines; creating brand awareness on-line and designing a roller banner for trade shows and presentations.
